Retail Associate - Jost Vineyards

At Jost Vineyards, we believe that making the best wines involves exceptional teamwork throughout our organization. We need you to make a difference as a Retail Associate. In this role you are the face of the organization and responsible for ensuring our guests have a positive experience. We are a passionate team of wine enthusiasts committed to our customers & committed to growing the local wine industry. 

Position: Retail Associate

Place: Jost Vineyards

Wage Rate: Dependent on experience

Working Hours: Full time & part time, during peak season, May-October. Must be flexible to work weekends

Reports to: Retail Manager

Job Purpose:

The Retail Associate is primarily responsible to ensure that guests have a positive experience. They provide guests with information and assistance designed to assist them with their needs. Retail Associates provide the main form of interaction between the public and our brand. As such, they are our primary brand ambassadors & are expected to display & provide a lasting positive image with visitors to the winery and the public at large.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to winery in a positive hospitable manner. Outgoing & dynamic.
  • Provide guests with helpful & knowledgeable assistance with their retail shopping decisions.
  • Interact with guests to determine wine styles, products they will enjoy.
  • Perform opening/closing duties following procedures and checklists.
  • Perform all Point of Sale duties & procedures, including credit/debit reconciliation.
  • Manage product displays in an ongoing attractive & stocked manner.
  • Conduct informative tastings at the product tasting counter in a manner that encourages sales of products.
  • Be proactive in decision making.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations at once.
  • Ability to work as part of a team & display interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Able to perform food service procedures on licensed patio.
  • Previous retail, food & beverage service and tourism related experience is a strong asset.

Gaspereau Vineyards is a boutique winery located within the Gaspereau Valley. We are only 3 kms. from the town of  Wolfville, NS. We are a passionate team of wine enthusiasts committed to our customers & committed to growing the local wine industry.

Patio Servers provide the main form of interaction between the public and our brand. As such, they are our primary brand ambassadors & are expected to display & provide a lasting positive image with visitors to the winery and the public at large.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to winery in a positive hospitable manner. Outgoing & dynamic.
  • Able to carry multiple plates in order to expedite food & beverage services efficiently.
  • Interact with guests to determine listings, menu items they will enjoy.
  • Perform opening/closing duties following procedures and checklists.
  • Perform all Point of Sale duties & procedures, including credit/debit reconciliation.
  • Manage patio table lay-out & presentation at all times.
  • Follow Food Service policies & procedures.
  • Be proactive in decision making.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations at once.
  • Ability to work as part of a team & display interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.

Chef/Kitchen Supervisor - Gaspereau Vineyards

Position: Chef/Kitchen Supervisor

Job Purpose:

The Chef/Kitchen Supervisor is primarily responsible to ensure that guests have a positive experience. They provide guests with carefully prepared, delicious light fare and meals to accompany our award-winning wines.  This position is for the creative and diligent culinary professional, overseeing the output of great food, managing the kitchen operations and interacting with the service and retail team to bring the excellent level of care and service we are known for.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and maintain a clean kitchen, storage areas and oversee all areas of food preparation and quality.
  • Able to multi-task, take on many interactive parts of a typical kitchen and oversee an efficient preparation line.
  • Assist with menu creation, costing, sourcing and train team in execution of delivering quality plates per recipes/specs. Pairing plates with applicable wines is a key element.
  • Perform opening/closing duties following procedures and checklists.
  • Follow Safe Handling for Food Service guidelines, policies & procedures.
  • Be proactive in decision making.
  • Ability to work as part of a team & display interpersonal skills, while being responsible for team players, their needs and output.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be of legal age.
  • Previous culinary, food & beverage experience required. Food Handlers certification is required.
  • First Aid/ WHIMIS/ other pertinent certifications are an asset.

Position: Kitchen Assistant

Place: Seagrape Cafe at Jost Vineyards

Job Description:

Seeking a motivated person to assist in our busy kitchen and foodservice operation. Experience is preferred, but will train the right candidate. The successful candidate will assist with the general upkeep of the kitchen, help with preparation and plating of our various menu items in an effective and efficient manner. Safe Food Handling Course certification is an asset. Discounts on all products, excellent gratuity structure and some flexibility in scheduling will be considered, although many weekends and some evenings may be required. 32 - 40 per week typically from May to November. Minimum Double Covid vaccination will be required prior to starting in position.

Job Description:

Seasonal, full-time opportunity approximately April 25th - Nov 15th. Provide excellent table service to guests in a highly trafficked, busy and popular area destination. Wine knowledge an asset, and experience in table service a requirement. Hours typically 9 to 5, but some evening events may also occur. Weekends required. Excellent gratuities structure. Staff discounts. Minimum double vaccination certification provision at time of application.
